We strongly believe in the power of sharing knowledge at Devoteam. Sharing knowledge will not only encourage those who you share it with to improve and grow, you and your organization will too.
A new approach
Devoteam’s Elastic team currently comprises 18 consultants who are involved in various projects for our clients. The key is to ensure mutual communication and allocate time for exploring new possibilities with Elastic. We do this by organizing a monthly Tech Meeting at our office.
This month, we took a new approach and arranged the Tech Meeting at the T-Mobile office. One of our consultants, along with his product owner Erwin Halmans, has been working on a project at T-Mobile, and we collaborated with them to set up this meeting.
Demonstrations and breakout sessions
During the meeting we exchanged our experiences from recent projects and demonstrated the live functionality of the new Synthetic monitoring, which is based on a real use case (introduced in Elastic v8.7). T-Mobile presented their current architecture setup and the challenges they face in cost management. These intriguing topics sparked fruitful discussions.
We had 3 breakout sessions at the end, about the following topics:
- AI in combination with Elastic
- Kafka / Vector as Kafka client
- Efficient use of Elastic onPrem vs Elastic Cloud
After the groups were finished, we had a team member of each group present the results of their breakout session to the others.
Closing the day
We closed the day by having some drinks and snacks in an informal setting, but even then, the laptops were still open and knowledge was shared during some good discussions. Having a Tech Meeting in collaboration with a customer was an excellent experience, and it is something that we definitely plan to do more often in the future.
