On Thursday the 18th of October TIBCO hosted its Innovation Day in one of Utrechts prime locations ‘Het Muntgebouw’ (government owned factory for striking Royal Dutch Coins since 1806). In short, a day full of keynote speakers, customers and partners on their path to innovation, great opportunities to network, sharing experiences, and first insights in the latest product updates like Spotfire X.

Panel Discussion on Blockchain: Myth or reality?
EBPI CTO Asish Dash and TIBCO CTO Nelson Petracek held an on-stage discussion/panel on blockchain. Myth or reality, that was the question. Asish and Nelson, both advocates of blockchain technologies, convinced the audience of the great ways in which blockchain technologies can be used. The main message: It is so important to always keep thinking about business logic. In short, the business case should always be leading.
Spotfire X
During a keynote session on Augment Intelligence Steven van der Kroft (Senior Solutions Consultant at TIBCO) gave a sneak preview of Spotfire X (a.k.a. Spotfire 10) and amazed the audience with its stunning improvements on user experience, and lots of new techniques. With the help of AI and other smart techniques Steven showed us a search function where you can just explain to Spotfire what you want in normal words, and Spotfire will suggest the right combinations of data and find interesting relating correlations for you. Another cool thing is Spotfire’s ability to really make it easy to get insight from real-time data, and combining that with historical data. All of this with great care for an ultimate user experience and great simplicity.
TIBCO focussing on the future
With keynotes on Interconneting everything, Augment intelligence, Spotfire X, and Blockchain, TIBCO really showed their eye is focussed on the future, embracing all cutting edge technologies and trying to add value to all of them. Instead of getting into blockchain business or cryptocurrency business by creating TIBCOINs?, TIBCO chooses to focus on the added value they can bring. For example, companies want to work with blockchain, but what does that do for their infrastructure? That’s where TIBCO comes in.
