One of the biggest changes in this technological era is the shift from traditional operations to cloud-based operations. Cloud computing has become the foundation of digital business.
Introducing you to cloud computing
Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computing resources, like applications, storage, servers, databases, networking, analytics and more on-demand services that are available on the internet, where customers pay just for the resources they use. Next to only paying for usage, someone else manages the upkeep of the resources.
In simple words, rather than owning and maintaining data centers, infrastructure, networking, etc, organizations rent those resources from Cloud Providers.
Cloud computing lets a customer choose the power and features they need to run certain software or applications. So, instead of having physical hardware equipment, make use of the hardware in someone else’s data center. All that heavy IT infrastructure and its maintenance is placed outside of an organization or user’s local server.
The most popular providers of cloud computing are Microsoft, Amazon, Google. Each cloud provider has its own selection of services and resources a customer can choose from, but the basic services provided by all cloud providers are compute power and storage.
Cloud computing services
The primary goal of cloud computing is to make running a business easier and more efficient, with the key benefit of avoiding the upfront costs (from CapEx to OpEx). Cloud computing services offer a vast amount of options: from standard office applications, storages, networking, and processing power with artificial intelligence and language processing. That said, the two most basic services all cloud providers offer are: compute power and storage.
